Family is a bouquet of different flowers having multiple fragrances of emotions, feelings, personalities, relationships, hardships and still staying together… This family bouquet from Coonoor was quintessentially shown by the director Shakun Batra… Though it had all the common episodes from many films but his fresh treatment midst the hilly terrain made it look & feel connected to the everyday subject…

Fawad Khan & Siddharth Malhotra established & struggling writers respectively were able to grow by each passing frame… The nuances of each character may it be a perfect son struggling to express his reality & not so serious younger son trying to prove his credentials was played by both of them with minute details…
The star of the film happened to be a 90 year old grandpa played by Rishi Kapoor… His comic timing & equation with his grandchildren sprinkled some light moments at right time when the emotions choked you… The old man & his desires was also well expressed thru his days of Mandakini to today’s times of porn till it became unbearable for him to accept the reality & wished to have a complete family photograph…
Alia Bhatt in small but crisp role makes you fall in love with her screen presence…
A family drama which will get you connected to all the characters as each of them is having a grey shade attached to it just as every family today… for this brilliant efforts the writer of the film should be applauded… The screenplay is tight & you never have a loose moment… some shocking frames that makes you freeze due to the good background score… The beauty of Coonoor could have been captured by the cinematographer to make it more breathtaking…
